Giorgio Chinaglia is a legendary Italian footballer.

He sadly passed away in 2012, aged 65, after an incredible career which saw him play in Wales, Italy and eventually the United States.

Chinaglia, who scored four goals in 14 appearances for the Italian national team, began his career at Swansea, before he became an Azzurri legend at Lazio scoring 98 goals in 209 league games.

In 1976 he became a pioneer for soccer in America, as he joined the New York Cosmos where he played alongside Franz Beckenbauer and Pele.

Chinaglia won four league titles with the Cosmos, becoming NASL’s all-time leading goalscorer with 193 goals.

Now, nobody expected Ivanka Trump to know this, however the daughter of the American president has hit the headlines this week for a bit of faux pas during her trip to Italy.

What happened?

The Italian version of Huffington Post have reported how Ivanka Trump confused Chinaglia with a Saint.

Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner went to the ‘Le cave di Sant’Ignazio’ restaurant this week, and according to the owner of the eatery, Luigina Pantalone, she confused the famous footballer with a holy man.

Ivanka asked “which Saint is that?” while Pantalone replied “it was not a Saint, but a great champion of Lazio”.
