Ivan Rakitić slams Barcelona for letting Neymar leave for PSG

‘Bad decision’

Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic has slammed the club for letting Neymar leave the club for Paris Saint Germain this summer after triggering his release clause.

The Croatian has spoken of his relationship with the Brazilian during the time in which they played together at the Camp Nou.

Rakitic revealed just how big the player was for him in the dressing room and has even admitted that the player has one of the best people he has played with.

Though, Rakitic is still bitter about the club allowing the player to leave, even after the release clause was triggered and Barcelona had no say in the matter.

PSG paid the release clause of €222million to make Neymar the most expensive player in footballing history and this went down as the biggest transfer ever.

Since the transfer, Neymar has went and impressed on every level in France, be it in the Ligue 1 or even in the Champions League against Celtic.

Whether Barcelona will ever be able to replace him is yet to be seen with Ousmane Dembele’s injury but Rakitic still cannot believe the club let him go.

“Personally for me, it was really hard,” he explained.

“For me it was a bad decision [to let him go] because I liked him in my team.”

“If a team can afford him and he wants to go, then you have to respect that.”

Trouble in paradise

Though it has gone well for Neymar is Paris so far, there have been some flaring tempers this week.

Neymar and Edinson Cavani fell out following a penalty and set-piece problem at the weekend but that has since changed.

There have been several developments this week including the pair going for a meal.
