Ivan Perisic & Man United
Another one of the deals which never came to pass this summer was Man United’s pursuit of Ivan Perisic.
At one point in the summer it seemed the Perisic would definitely join Man United.
Indeed, last season Jose Mourinho flew to Croatia to watch Perisic in an international match.
Perisic also missed matches during Inter’s pre-season. Many thought that happened as the 28-year-old tried to force a move to United.
But, the move never happened, and Perisic is now on the verge of agreeing a new deal with Inter.
For the record, Perisic is under contract at the San Siro until 2020.
Anti-Man United clause
According to Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday, Inter are hoping to insert something of an anti-Man United clause in Perisic’s new deal.
It’s claimed that Inter are ready to up the winger’s wages to 4.5 million euros a season as Perisic commits himself to Inter until 2022.
But, crucially, Perisic’s new contract will not have a release clause in it.
That seems like an obvious attempt by the Serie A giants to keep hold of their wide-man for the foreseeable future.
