In a bizarre story emanating from Italy this evening, 2006 World Cup winning defender Cristian Zaccardo has used his LinkedIn profile to offer himself to interested clubs.
Now 35, Zaccardo has lined out for the likes of AC Milan, Parma, Palmero and Wolfsburg over the course of his career, though he is now a free agent having rescinded his Vicenza contract, following the club’s relegation from the Italian second tier.
Clearly still of the opinion that he can provide a meaningful contribution despite his age, Zaccardo has reached out to any and all clubs interested in his services, via a rather peculiar platform.
The Italian veteran has taken to LinkedIn, a service which connects employers with those seeking work, in an attempt to convince sides of his credentials.
The 17-time capped international wrote:
‘I’ve cancelled the contract that tied me to the vicenza until June 2018.’
‘I’m currently an unattached footballer. I’m still good physically, I could play two more years at high levels. Whoever takes me will get a great deal.’
‘Serious and strong professional footballer!’
You’ve got to appreciate the commitment level… Someone sign him up!
