The internet reacts as Cristiano Ronaldo stuns the world v Spain

Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal Spain World Cup

Just wow

Cristiano Ronaldo too centre stage in possibly one of the best World Cup games there has been for many years as Portugal earned a draw against Spain.

It seriously is hard to put this game into words, with two sides fighting tooth and nail for the win.

Portugal took the lead almost instantly when Cristiano Ronaldo was adjudged to have been tripped by Spanish defender and Real Madrid teammate Nacho.

As expected, the forward got up and took the penalty himself, sending Spain shot-stopper David De Gea the wrong way.

Though, Spain struck back 20 minutes later after a brilliant individual goal from Diego Costa.

Having challenged Sergio Ramos in the air (which could easily have been foul), he took the ball down and ran towards the Spain box.

With no supporting players around him, he had to weave himself between Portuguese defenders, eventually ending up 4v1.

Though, that was no challenge for Costa as he planted the ball in the bottom corner.

Goalkeeping howler

Then came possibly the second biggest talking point of the game, a David De Gea blunder.

The Manchester United man is considered to possibly be the best goalkeeper in world football right now.

Though, he practically pushed a Cristiano Ronaldo shot into his own goal for Portugal’s second.

It took another Diego Costa goal, this time coming in the form of a tap-in, to get the former World champions level again.

Though, it only took them a further 3 minutes to get themselves ahead for the first time in the game.

This time Nacho would atone for his earlier penalty challenge and score what can only be described as a delightful goal.

The man of the moment

Then, as Spain looked to have won their first game under Fernando Hierro, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to a free-kick.

He had missed his previous 43 free-kick attempts at a World Cup tournament but only this one mattered.

That was because he planted it almost into the top corner of the net, leaving David De Gea stranded.

The internet goes wild

Safe to say, the internet imploded following that goal.
