Speculation surrounding the future of Red Devils’ striker Lukaku has been rampant this summer.

On the back of a disappointing campaign last time out, during which he managed to find the net just 15 times across all competitions, rumours have long insisted that the board at Old Trafford are open to the idea of parting with Lukaku over the coming weeks.

Of the clubs touted as potential destinations, meanwhile, Serie A giants Inter Milan have been the most persistently linked.

Antonio Conte, who was named as the new Nerazzurri boss in May, is said to have identified Lukaku as a key summer target.

Talks underway

A number of updates regarding the interest of the Milanese giants, meanwhile, have emerged today.

First, Guardian reporter Fabrizio Romano revealed this morning that Inter director Piero Ausilio had flown to London for official talks with the United brass.

At this point, the Nerazzurri chief was expected to table an initial offer, comprising of a two-year loan with obligation to buy.

This would involve ‘a €10m payment for the loan this summer and then further instalments of €30m in 2020 and €30m in 2021.’

Romano added that Lukaku himself is keen on making the move to the San Siro.

And the Italian transfer guru has since provided further insight into the situation this evening.

Romano claims that the summit between the clubs has finished, with Inter’s first offer having been lodged.

The Serie A outfit are also said to have made clear their ‘strong’ interest in securing a deal.

Manchester United, meanwhile, will ‘soon’ issue a response to the bid, including their valuation of Lukaku.
