Insight provided into chances of Dele Alli joining Newcastle in January

A brief insight into the future of struggling Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli, and the possibility of the midfielder making the move to Premier League rivals Newcastle United, has been provided on Monday.

Spurs star stuttering

The future of English international Alli has of course proven a hot topic of debate on the Lilywhite half of north London of late.

This comes with the 25-year-old fresh off the back of, to put it lightly, an underwhelming couple of months to open the campaign.

Once viewed as the next up-and-coming star of English football, Alli has been brought back down to earth with a thud over the last couple of seasons, failing in spectacular fashion to build on his early-career promise.

After acting as a peripheral figure under ex-boss Jose Mourinho, the attack-minded midfielder now appears to have lost the faith of current Spurs tactician Nuno Espirito Santo, too.

Since being hooked at the interval en route to a North London Derby defeat at the hands of Arsenal late last month, Alli has not been afforded a single minute of playing time in any of the club’s last three Premier League outings.

Newcastle switch?

In turn, with calls beginning to mount amongst the Tottenham fanbase for the club to simply cut their losses on the MK Dons youth product, it does not appear out of the question that those in a position of power in north London could yet sanction an exit for Alli upon the opening of the January transfer window.

And, as outlined above, on Thursday, a brief insight into one potential landing spot has been forthcoming.

As per a report from the reliable Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic, after previously blocking the advances of interested clubs, Daniel Levy and co. have begun to open to the possibility of allowing Alli to move on.

This comes with the player, as things stand, seemingly not featuring in Nuno’s plans.

And one club, in turn, who could well attempt to take advantage of the situation are Newcastle United.

The Magpies, of course fresh off the back of a big-money takeover, are widely expected to begin a lucrative recruitment drive as early as January. And Alli, for one, is viewed as a ‘realistic’ coup for the incoming brass at St. James’ Park.
