Insight into importance of Liverpool result for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United future

An insight into just how crucial Manchester United’s meeting with Liverpool this weekend could prove when it comes to the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been forthcoming online.

Old Trafford showdown

Solskjaer is of course set to lead his side into battle in a little less than 48 hours’ time.

After recovering from a stretch of dismal domestic form courtesy of a comeback win over Atalanta during the week, the Red Devils will now turn their attentions towards the marquee fixture of the Premier League gameweek.

United are poised to welcome high-flying Liverpool to Old Trafford on Sunday evening, for the latest edition of one of world football’s fiercest rivalries.

Solskjaer and co. enter the clash aware that nothing but a positive result will do, after slipping five points adrift of the Premier League’s summit owing to a draw and two defeats from their last three.

Liverpool, though, will no doubt be confident in their chances of shutting down any such hopes.

The Reds, after all, stand as the only English club to have maintained an unbeaten record across both domestic and European competition to this point in the season.

Ole latest

Ahead of Sunday’s matchup, the headline talking point surrounding the upcoming action in Manchester has of course come in the form of the future of the aforementioned Solskjaer.

Despite having added considerably to their personnel ranks over the summer, United have endured a less than ideal opening to the campaign, and could find themselves all but out of the Premier League title race over the coming weeks, owing to a daunting stretch of fixtures.

In turn, calls on the part of the Red Devils faithful have begun to mount for the club’s boss to be moved on.

And, if the latest word doing the rounds online is anything to go by, then supporters of such a persuasion could yet soon have their wishes granted.

Speaking on his official Youtube channel earlier today, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano provided update on Solskjaer’s situation at Old Trafford.

And the Italian went on to confirm that the outcome of this weekend’s action is set to prove hugely important when it comes to the Norwegian’s long-term future:

‘The game between Liverpool and Man United will be key for Ole’s future.’

Could a defeat to Liverpool spell the end of Solskjaer’s stint in the United dugout?
