Injured Sadio Mane
If Liverpool are going to finish the season with a top four finish, they’ll have to do so without influential forward Sadio Mane.
The Senegal international has arguably been Liverpool’s most important player this season following his move from Southampton.
This season he’s scored 13 goals and chipped in with five assists for club and country in 30 appearances.
But Mane’s season is now over following an operation on his knee, which was damaged in a collision with Everton left-back Leighton Baines in the recent Merseyside derby.
Reaches out to Liverpool fans
Liverpool’s official website have now posted a message from Mane to all his fans. The 25-year-old forward said:
It’s great that I have received so many encouraging messages from fans around the world, particularly on social media.
It makes me proud and gives me so much power that so many supporters of Liverpool FC and Senegal give me such great support. I’d like to say thank you to everyone.
I will give my very best after yesterday’s successful surgery to be back on the pitch as soon as possible and be even better than before.
Third in the Premier League, Liverpool travel to West Brom this weekend, before upcoming fixtures against Crystal Palace (home) and Watford (away).
