Man City 7 – Stoke 2
Who can stop Man City winning the Premier League?
According to Pep Guardiola, Man City put in their best performance since he arrived at the club on Saturday against Stoke.
City scored seven, and it could easily have been double figures.
Interestingly, early in the second half Stoke were sniffing up upset. Mame Biram Diouf scored either side of the halftime break as Stoke trailed 3-2.
Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and David Silva had previously put City 3-0 up.
But after Stoke scared City, the home side put their foot on the gas.
Gabriel Jesus made it 4-2, Fernandinho scored a screamer for City’s fifth, before Leroy Sane and Bernardo Silva both found the target.
Incredible Gabriel Jesus stat
With his brace against Stoke, Gabriel Jesus is now up to six goals in the Premier League.
That’s just one behind Man United striker Romelu Lukaku.
However, in a far better stat, following the win against Stoke, it’s now been a full year since Jesus lost a match.
Gabriel Jesus has not lost an official game since October 2016, when Santos beat Palmeiras 1-0 in the 33rd round of the Brazilian league.
After the Stoke game, the Brazilian also spoke to City TV for his post match interview.
Other Man City stats
The other big Man City stat from the weekend is that they are the first team in 123 years to score 29 goals after 8 matches of a top flight season.
Everton had scored 30 goals in 1894-95.
Against Stoke, Kevin De Bruyne made his 100th appearance for Man City.
In that time the Belgian star has 25 goals and 38 assists. That’s a goal or assist ever 125 minutes.
