‘I think it is impossible not to’: Mikel Arteta opens up on bringing stresses of managing Arsenal home

Mikel Arteta has opened up on bringing the stress that comes with managing Arsenal home.

Arsenal’s 2021/22

The opening of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign has been a mixed affair for Arsenal to say the least.

The Gunners would begin the season by losing 2-0 to Brentford and Chelsea before then being smashed 5-0 by Manchester City.

This left Arsenal dead bottom of the Premier League with a -9 goal difference after just three games.

Thankfully for the north London outfit, they were then able to pick up a huge 1-0 win over Norwich last weekend.

This lifted Arsenal out of the bottom three and likely lifted some of the pressure on Arteta.

Arteta on stress of managing Arsenal

However, the Spaniard is still likely under immense pressure and, when speaking after Norwich, has opened up on the stresses of being Arsenal manager.

The internet, and people in general, are quick to make jokes at Arsenal and other side’s expense when they are struggling, but it is easy to forget that these are real people dealing with these struggles.

And now, Arteta has shared his thoughts on the stresses of being in charge of Arsenal and bringing that stress into his home.

When speaking about bringing home the stress of managing Arsenal, the Spaniard stated:

“I think it is impossible not to.

“That’s why when you see your kids running around you and your wife trying to just change the topic and see everything from a different perspective, it’s so helpful.

“That negativity has to come away. You have to bear in mind that first of all you are doing everything you can to your best capacity, and don’t kid yourself or look for excuses. Normally the easiest thing to do is blame the players: ‘They are not good enough. I have this, I have that.’ And then you try to over-coach them.

“I was not willing to do that because first of all they don’t deserve that. The people around this club don’t deserve it.”
