Tottenham 3 – Leicester 1
If you didn’t watch the game, Tottenham 3 – Leicester 1 seems like a comfortable match for Spurs.
On another day Leicester City would have beaten the Lillywhites at Wembley.
Tottenham took the lead through Davinson Sanchez in the first half, while Christian Eriksen doubled the advantage in the 66th minute.
Jamie Vardy, after he came off the bench to miss a penalty, scored for Leicester, before Son Heung-min sealed Tottenham’s win at the death.
Hugo Lloris on Jamie Vardy’s penalty & Leicester
Vardy’s first action in the match was to take a penalty.
The Leicester forward watched Hugo Lloris save his spot-kick.
Speaking to the Evening Standard after the game, Lloris revealed he was stunned Vardy took the spot-kick.
Moreover, the French stopper revealed that Leicester were unlucky to lose. However, in a backhanded dig, Lloris also said that the Foxes aren’t a top side:
Leicester had 20 shots and against a bigger side it would be difficult to win that way. But sometimes you deserve to win, like the game against Man United, and you lose. Yesterday, Leicester deserved better but we won.
I was surprised (Vardy) took it because his first touch is a penalty.
He usually shoots strong and he can go everywhere [in the goal], but on his first touch?
It was a good moment for me and the team because if we conceded the game would have changed completely.

Spurs take on Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday.
Lloris noted that Tottenham have to up their game against the Germans:
Dortmund play fantastic football with fantastic players and I’m not surprised they’re top of the league in Germany.
It’s going to be very, very difficult. We need to improve the team performance compared to yesterday and we need the stadium to help us. Some days it’s difficult to deal with Wembley but, hopefully, in this big game we’ll receive this help from the crowd.
