Calls for VAR after two hugely controversial moments between Brighton and Chelsea

In two hugely contentious moments at the Amex, Brighton were twice denied, what looked to be, clear penalties after Ezequiel Schelotto was brought down in the penalty area by first by Willy Caballero and then by Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Blues lead the Seagulls 2-0 at half-time, courtesy of goals from Eden Hazard and Willian, who put Chelsea two goals ahead after just seven minutes played.

However, two strong appeals for a penalty from the home support were both waved away by Jon Moss the referee, which has football fans on Twitter calling for VAR.

HT: Brighton 0-2 Chelsea

The Blues sailed into an early lead after just seven minutes as goals from Hazard and Willian ended Chelsea’s three-match Premier League goal drought.

Chelsea headed for the south coast with a number of notable absentees, including Thibaut Courtois, Pedro, Cesc Fabregas and Gary Cahill, but they haven’t yet shown any signs of missing them so far this afternoon.

Hazard broke the deadlock after just four minutes, for his 100th career league goal, after he managed to convert Victor Moses’ low cross.

Just moments later, Willian doubled Chelsea’s lead with a goal of the season contender, as he sumptuously rounded off a well-worked move between Hazard and Michy Batshuayi.
