Huddersfield vs Wolves betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Huddersfield vs Wolves prediction: Huddersfield 0-2 Wolves

Huddersfield are doomed.

The Terriers were beaten again at the weekend as their miserable season goes on.

Therefore, Wolves will see this as a great chance to get back to winning ways.

Should be a comfortable away win.

Aaron Mooy scored a brace at Molineux earlier this season. The Aussie is 9/1 to score first and 7/2 to get his first goal since then.

In contrast, Raúl Jiménez has been in fine form for Wolves. The Mexican is 5/1 to break the deadlock and 15/8 to get his 12th of the season.

Both Raúl Jiménez and Ivan Cavaleiro to score is 15/2.

Huddersfield vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Match preview

Huddersfield fans surely can’t wait for this season to end.

On Saturday, they were beaten 2-0 at St James’ Park by Newcastle.

That means they’ve amassed just 1 point from their last 14 matches.

In fact, their last win came at Molineux way back in November.

Back then they picked up 7 points from 3 games but any hopes that would kickstart a survival bid, were misplaced.

That all means they’ve scored the fewest goals (14) and lost the most league matches (19) among all 98 clubs in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season.

Jan Siewert’s side are 14 points from safety and are very much planning for life in the Championship.

They need just 1 more point to avoid being the worst Premier League team of all time so will they get it here?

Wolves for Europe?

Wolves will be very confident of winning this one.

It was a tale of three penalties for them on Saturday.

After falling behind to a spot kick at Bournemouth, Raúl Jiménez converted a penalty of his own.

Then, just a minute later, Bournemouth got a second penalty of the game but luckily for Wolves, it hit the post.

The match finished 1-1.

However, that result has seen Nuno Espírito Santo’s side drop a place down to eighth.

They have though won five Premier League away games this season and it seems likely that’ll become six here.

Can Wolves get revenge for their shock defeat to Huddersfield in earlier on in the season?

Despite being on this desperately poor run, Jan Siewert just doesn’t have the depth to make wholesale changes even if he wanted too.

Goalkeeper Jonas Lössl returned to the team on Saturday after missing the previous game with a virus.

Tommy Smith is suspended after being sent off at the weekend.

That’s the fourth red card shown to a Huddersfield player this season, no club has picked up more.

Florent Hadergjonaj will come in at right-back.

The rest of the defence, Schindler, Jørgensen and Löwe, is likely to be unchanged.

In midfield, Philip Billing has only started 1 of the last 5 matches but will come in here.

Either Juninho Bacuna or Jonathan Hogg will drop out.

Aaron Mooy has scored just two Premier League goals this season, both of which came at Molineux.

They do have options in wide positions.

Jason Puncheon and Elias Kachunga started at St James’ but it would be no surprise if Isaac Mbenza came in instead.

Adama Diakhaby is out with a calf injury.

Alex Pritchard is available again though.

Up front, Laurent Depoitre started but struggled on Saturday so Steve Mounié may well come in.

Those two, despite being their two strikers, have zero and one goal to their names respectively.

Will this Huddersfield side spring a surprise?

As for Wolves, Nuno Espírito Santo has made the least changes to his starting XI of any manager this season.

However, with 3 games in 7 days, he may be forced into making one or two here.

Goalkeeper Rui Patrício and the back 3 in front of him never changes.

In fact, Coady, Bennett and Boly have started together in 27 of Wolves’ 31 league and FA Cup games.

For 3 of the 4 they didn’t, Boly was suspended.

The only game that Nuno tinkered with his back 3 was the defeat at Cardiff so it looks unlikely he’ll do that again.

A couple of alterations are anticipated further forward though.

32-year old João Moutinho may well get a rare rest.

Either Romain Saïss or U-17 World Cup winner Morgan Gibbs-White would come in.

If Jonny is rotated out, Rúben Vinagre could start for the first time since 19 January.

Up front, the goals have dried up for Diogo Jota; his last one came when he got a hat-trick against Leicester over a month ago.

As a result, Ivan Cavaleiro could be rotated in.

Raúl Jiménez has really found his feet recently.

His 10 goals and 5 assists means he has been involved in a higher % of Wolves’ 35 Premier League goals this season than anyone else.

Adama Traoré will once again be on the bench; 14 of his 21 league appearances have come as a sub.

This side is full of quality and should have too much quality for Huddersfield. This time.
