Huddersfield vs Watford betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Huddersfield Town vs Watford prediction: Huddersfield Town 0-3 Watford

Huddersfield are just desperate for this season to end.

Last weekend they suffered their 26th defeat of the season and their sixth in a row.

Will they pick up another point?

They’ll do well to get anything here.

Although, Watford themselves did lose last weekend but are still very much in the hunt for European football.

Surely they’ll be just too good at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Huddersfield Town vs Watford: Who will win?

Huddersfield have won just 3 games this season and are 16/5 to add to that measly tally.

Watford are big odds on favourites at 5/6.

A draw, which would in it’s self be a surprise, is 13/5.

Over 2.5 goals is 4/5.

Both teams to score no is 11/10.

Watford to win and both teams to score no is 9/4.

Karlan Grant is still looking for his first Huddersfield goal at home. He is 9/2 to score first and 9/4 to end that run.

Andre Gray is expected to lead the line for Watford. He’s 4/1 to score first and 6/4 to net anytime.

Both Grant and Gray to score is 6/1.

Both Roberto Pereyra and Gray to score is 7/1.

Both Abdoulaye Doucouré and Étienne Capoue to score is 33/1.

Huddersfield Town vs Watford: Match preview

26 defeats. 5 draws. Still just 3 wins for Huddersfield.

The Terriers were thrashed 4-0 at Tottenham last weekend so are still on just 14 points in the Premier League.

They need to score just one more goal to avoid being the outright lowest scoring side in Premier League history.

Will they score a goal or get another point this season?

Watford meanwhile are aiming for a Europa League place.

On Monday night though they were narrowly beaten 1-0 at home by Arsenal.

However, the three teams directly above them also all lost last weekend so the Hornets are only 1 point off the “best of the rest” spot.

Also, of course, they have an FA Cup Final against Manchester City to look forward to.

Still a lot to play for but how will Javi Gracia’s side look at the league’s bottom club?

In recent games, Jan Siewert has been making some very odd selection choices.

He appears to have fallen out with the three Danes, Jonas Lössl, Philip Billing and Mathias Jørgensen so they’re all unlikely to feature again this season.

So, Ben Hamer is expected to keep his place in goal.

Likewise, it’ll once again be Terence Kongolo and Christopher Schindler at the back.

Florent Hadergjonaj is expected to be preferred to Tommy Smith at right-back.

In midfield, Jon Gorenc Stanković will try and protect the defence.

Further forward Chris Löwe, a left-back by trade, has been playing in midfield recently.

Weirdly, Aaron Mooy was left on the bench at Tottenham but is expected to come back in here.

Karlan Grant will lead the line.

Can he get his first Huddersfield goal at home?

Does this side have enough quality to get a result?

It seems unlikely.

Troy Deeney & Lucas Torreira

As for Watford, they have a few absentees ahead of this game.

With the FA Cup Final to come, Javi Gracia is unlikely to play anyone who is not 100% fit.

Despite his howler on Monday night, Ben Foster will remain in goal.

They’re expected to revert to a 4-4-2 after matching up Arsenal’s 3 at the back.

That’ll see either Daryl Janmaat or Kiko Femenía at right-back with the other dropping out.

José Cholevas missed that match with an ankle injury and is unlikely to return.

Christian Kabasele has displaced Adrian Mariappa at centre-back.

In midfield, Abdoulaye Doucouré will continue alongside Étienne Capoue.

Roberto Pereyra is also expected to miss out and, with Domingos Quina also injured, Ken Sema will come in.

It’ll be an unfamiliar front two.

Troy Deeney is suspended and Gerard Deulofeu isn’t expected to be back from his ankle injury sustained at Wembley.

So, Andre Gray will partner Isaac Success.

This would be the Nigerian’s first league start up front of 2019.

Even with key men out, Watford should be far too good for Huddersfield.
