Huddersfield vs Manchester United prediction: Huddersfield 0-2 Manchester United

Manchester United have failed to win any of their last four matches.

The Red Devils have to win their final two matches if they are to have any realistic chance of finishing inside the top four.

Already-relegated Huddersfield have lost eight in a row.

Huddersfield vs Manchester United: Who will win?

Manchester United are overwhelming favourites to win the match at 1/3. A Huddersfield win is priced at 9/1 while the draw can be backed at 19/4.

United will be looking to keep their first clean sheet on the road since February. No side has scored fewer goals at home this season than Huddersfield (9). United are 5/6 to keep a clean sheet.

Anthony Martial is expected to return to the Manchester United line-up. Martial is 9/2 to open the scoring and 5/4 to score anytime.

Huddersfield vs Manchester United Premier League match preview

Huddersfield host Manchester United at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday for their final home match of the Premier League season.

Rock-bottom Huddersfield were thrashed 5-0 at Anfield last week, conceding the first goal inside 20 seconds.

The Terriers are on 14 points, 12 behind Fulham with two matches remaining. Huddersfield have the worst goal difference in the league at -54, but they’re still a long way away from Derby County’s record of -69.

Huddersfield’s final Premier League match is away to Southampton next Sunday. If Huddersfield fail to score against United they will become the first top-flight team in history to score fewer than 10 home goals in a season.

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at Old Trafford last weekend. Their top four hopes are unlikely but Tottenham’s defeat on Saturday could reinvigorate the Red Devils.

Former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata opened the scoring for the home side but another David de Gea mistake allowed Chelsea to equalise before half time.

United have lost five consecutive away matches in all competitions. Despite their woeful recent form, the Red Devils still have the fourth-best away record this season, winning exactly half of their 18 matches. The last time Manchester United won their final away match of the season was back in 2012.

United won the reverse fixture 3-1 at Old Trafford in December. Nemanja Matic opened the scoring before Paul Pogba sealed the win with a second-half brace. Mathias Jorgensen scored a late consolation for the visitors. Huddersfield won 2-1 the last time they hosted United at the John Smith’s Stadium back in October 2017.

Huddersfield team news vs Manchester United

Mathias Jorgensen is expected to miss out after coming down with a cold.

Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre both come back into contention after returning to training.

Gorenc Stankovic could be dropped after his first-minute mistake last Friday. Chris Lowe, Alex Pritchard and Elias Kachunga will be pushing for starts after coming off the bench at Anfield.

Joel Coleman is expected to replace Jonas Lossl in goal. Jan Siewert said on Friday that the reserve goalkeeper would get “one or two games” before the end of the season. Back-up goalkeeper Ben Hamer remains sidelined with a knock.

Abdelhamid Sabiri and Adama Diakhaby both lack match fitness and have been ruled out.

Philip Billing, Jason Puncheon and Danny Williams seem to be out of favour and are unlikely to feature for the Terriers..

Manchester United team news vs Huddersfield

Despite making another alarming error last weekend, David de Gea will continue in goal for the Red Devils. In any case, back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero is unavailable after picking up a knee injury in training this week.

Paul Pogba was conspicuously absent from United’s open training session on Wednesday, leading to slight doubts about his involvement on Sunday.

Romelu Lukaku is expected to miss United’s final two matches of the season after aggravating a hamstring problem against Chelsea.

Marcus Rashford was forced off with a shoulder injury against Chelsea but is expected to be available after he was spotted in training.

Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia also returned to training, although the latter will most likely be saved for United’s final match of the season at Old Trafford, which will be his final match for the club.

Jesse Lingard and Chris Smalling remain doubtful and will be assessed ahead of kick-off. With Eric Bailly still sidelined, Marcos Rojo may be called upon if neither Jones or Smalling are fit to start.

Anthony Martial was an unused substitute against Chelsea and is expected to feature from the start. Scott McTominay and Alexis Sanchez provide Solskjaer with extra options in midfield.

Mason Greenwood has an unspecified injury but could be involved in United’s final match of the season next weekend. The 17-year-old has made three first team appearances this season.
