Huddersfield vs Arsenal betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Huddersfield Town vs Arsenal prediction: Huddersfield Town 1-3 Arsenal

Are Huddersfield doomed to relegation?

Even if the Terriers’ point total was doubled they’d still be in the relegation zone and their situation looks desperate.

As a result, nothing less than a win is good enough for Arsenal who are desperately trying to keep pace with the top 4.

A comfortable Arsenal win?

Huddersfield Town vs Arsenal: Who will win?

Even with home advantage, Huddersfield are huge outsiders at 17/4.

Arsenal are odds on at 8/13 to leave with the win they need.

A draw, which Jan Siewert would be delighted with, is 3/1.

Huddersfield or draw is 5/4.

Arsenal to win and both teams to score yes, which has happened in 71% of Arsenal’s wins, is 21/10.

Arsenal and over 2.5 goals is 3/1.

Steve Mounié could lead the line for Huddersfield. He has just 1 league goal this season and is 9/1 to score first and 3/1 to add to his measly tally.

Arsenal’s forwards have been far more prolific. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has 18 goals this season and is 16/5 to score first and 21/20 to net anytime.

Likewise Alexandre Lacazette is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 13/10 to get his twelfth of the campaign.

Both Aubameyang and Lacazette to score is 7/2.

Huddersfield Town vs Arsenal: Match preview

Huddersfield are all but down.

The Terriers last win came at Wolves on 25 November and since they’ve lost 11 times and amassed just 1 point.

That includes last Saturday’s 5-0 drubbing at Chelsea.

The Yorkshire club only have 11 points but just need one more point to avoid being the worst Premier League side of all time.

They’re currently 13 points from safety and relegation looks inevitable.

Huddersfield fans should take some heart from their previous meeting with Arsenal.

Only an 83rd minute goal saw them narrowly lose 1-0 in North London in December.

Can they get a shock point or even all three?

Arsenal cannot afford to let that happen.

Unai Emery’s side were beaten 3-1 at Manchester City last Sunday in a somewhat spirited display.

Nevertheless, that result saw them drop down to sixth place, 3 points behind Chelsea in fourth.

Arsenal have lost 3 of their last 6 league matches but, after this game, they have Southampton and Bournemouth at home so there’s a chance to build some momentum ahead of a North London Derby.

Surely Arsenal will win this, won’t they?

Jan Siewert is still tinkering and trying to find his best XI.

Goalkeeper Jonas Lössl has kept just 3 clean sheets this season, the lowest of any number 1 goalkeeper.

Mathias Jørgensen was surprisingly left out at Stamford Bridge but, with his side letting in 5, he may well come back in.

Tommy Smith and Florent Hadergjonaj continue to battle it out for the starting right-back spot.

It may not have helped, but Huddersfield did welcome back their best 2 midfielders at Chelsea.

Philip Billing and Aaron Mooy will be key if they are to get anything here.

Mooy’s return did see Crystal Palace loanee Jason Puncheon drop out.

Up front, Arsenal’s ariel weakness should see Steve Mounié come in with Elias Kachunga moved out-wide and Isaac Mbenza dropping out.

Huddersfield have never scored a Premier League goal against Arsenal.

Will they change that here?

As for the Gunners, their still without a number of key defenders.

Rob Holding and Héctor Bellerín are out for the season and Sokratis Papastathopoulos won’t be back until next month.

Shkodran Mustafi went off injured at Manchester City last weekend but is expected to be fit.

At right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles missed that game with a bruised knee but Emery will be hoping he can come in for the shambolic Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Granit Xhaka also missed that defeat through injury but he too should be back.

He could come in for Mattéo Guendouzi despite the fact the Frenchman was outstanding at the Etihad.

Barcelona loanee Denis Suárez made his debut last weekend and could be in line for his first start here.

Mesut Özil was an unused substitute and is expected to be on the bench once more.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan played for the U23s on Monday night and could also be on the bench.

This forthcoming Thursday’s UEFA Europa League match in Belarus against BATE Borisov could be the perfect time for him to make his return from a foot injury.

Upfront, Aubameyang and Lacazette have 24 league goals between them; that’s 11 more than Huddersfield.

Their quality should see Arsenal to a much needed comfortable win.
