Huddersfield & David Wagner Trolled QPR boss Ian Holloway after play-off final win

Huddersfield reach the Premier League

The Championship play-off final failed to live up to expectations and was more or less a bore fest from beginning to end.

There was though plenty of drama once the penalty shoot-outs got going with Huddersfield beating Reading 4-3.

This confirmed a seriously impressive season for Huddersfield, who will be heavily fancied to go down next season.

“There’s only one Ian Holloway!”

After the play-off final win, Huddersfield took aim at QPR manager Ian Holloway.

Generally, Holloway is loved in English football as one of the most straight talking men in the punditry game.

However, Huddersfield have a pretty serious grudge towards Holloway as he tipped them for relegation this season.

What did Ian Holloway say about Huddersfield?

Ahead of the 2016/2017 campaign, Ian Holloway said on Sky Sports: “I haven’t seen much progression from the club during the back end of last season.

Holloway continued: “David Wagner is pretty inexperienced and if results turn, then they may struggle to turn things around.”

Later on in the season, when it looked like Huddersfield were close to promotion, Holloway seriously backtracked on his pre-season prediction.

“I’m never going to live it down”

The current QPR boss said: “I’m never going to live it down, I put them in the bottom three in my predictions [for Sky Sports], but they’ve been absolutely magnificent.”

After seeing off Reading, David Wagner Trolled Ian Holloway in his post match interview.

And, in the Wembley dressing room, Huddersfield sang about Ian Holloway as well.

It looks like Ian Holloway can take a lot of credit for inspiring Huddersfield to promotion!
