Huddersfield & Cardiff: Fears Romelu Lukaku’s season is over, better news for Marcus Rashford

Huddersfield & Cardiff

Manchester United have two matches remaining this Premier League season.

This weekend the Red Devils travel to Huddersfield.

Many expect this to be a gimme for United, who can forget Huddersfield’s 2-1 win in this corresponding fixture last season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then wraps up the season with a home game against Cardiff.

Romelu Lukaku’s season is over

However, there are fears that Romelu Lukaku won’t turn out for Man United again this season.

The Times have confirmed that Lukaku’s campaign could well be over due to a hamstring injury sustained against Chelsea:

Lukaku, 25, had a scan on the injured area on Tuesday at United’s Carrington training base. It is understood that the striker fears he is now unlikely to be fit for United’s remaining fixtures.

Lukaku looks set to finish the year in the Premier League with 12 goals and just one assist.

Will the Belgian still be at Old Trafford in August? Or will United offload the striker in the summer?

Marcus Rashford & Man United

Marcus Rashford also picked up a knock in last weekend’s draw with Chelsea.

Rashford was subbed out of the game with a shoulder injury.

The Times announce that Rashford’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared:

In better news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Marcus Rashford looks set to be available for the run in.

(Rashford) trained with the rest of the squad at Carrington yesterday.

Jesse Lingard & Tahith Chong

Some more Man United injury updates.

Jesse Lingard was missing from Man United’s Wednesday training session. However, the Times report that Lingard is still hopeful of playing against Huddersfield.

Fred and Phil Jones could also be recalled for the Terriers match after missing the Chelsea stalemate.

The outlook isn’t as bright for Chris Smalling. He’s likely to miss the Huddersfield clash.

Eric Bailly is also out of contention as his season is over through injury.

Finally, the Times speculate that Dutch teenager Tahith Chong could be involved at the John Smith’s stadium:

Solskjaer is considering a shake-up of his team after winning just two of his last ten matches. Tahith Chong, the 18-year-old winger, could make his fourth appearance of the campaign.
