Wolves & Manchester United
Following Chelsea’s victory over Arsenal in the Europa League final, Wolves and Man United have had their respective 2019-20 Europa League standings confirmed.
Wolves finished the 2018-19 Premier League season in seventh place.
Due to the fact that Man City won the League Cup and FA Cup as well as the league, Wolves have won entry into next year’s UEL.
Now that Chelsea have beaten Arsenal, Wolves have learned that they’ll start their Europa League qualification process in the second round.
That means Wolves are likely to start next season on July 25th – which is less than eight weeks away.
As for Man United, they’ll also play Europa League football next term after they finished sixth in the league.
Man United will enter the Europa League in the groups.
Arsenal will also start their 2019-20 Europa League campaign in the group phase.
Lyon will be happy Chelsea beat Arsenal
On another tangent, Ligue 1 side Lyon will be celebrating Arsenal’s defeat to Chelsea in Azerbaijan.
That’s because Lyon have now qualified for the Champions League group phase as a result.
Had Arsenal won the final, the Gunners would have qualified for next season’s Champions League.
But that didn’t happen, which means UEFA have recycled their Champions League spot from winning the UEL trophy.
To be clear, Chelsea had already qualified for the Champions League group phase after finishing third in the Premier League.
