How Tottenham’s Dele Alli is smashing the stats of Chelsea icon Frank Lampard

Leicester 0 – Tottenham 2

Tottenham are third in the Premier League after Saturday’s 2-0 away win at Leicester City.

Mauricio Pochettino took a couple of gambles at the King Power Stadium.

Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen were both left on the bench as Spurs cast one eye to this week’s massive Champions League match at Barcelona.

Son Heung-Min fired Tottenham into the lead on the stroke of halftime. Dele Alli’s 58th minute header sealed the win for the Lillywhites.

Dele Alli vs Chelsea icon Frank Lampard

Dele Alli’s goal against the Foxes was his 50th for Tottenham.

It’s worth remembering that Alli is still just 22-years-old.

In the Daily Mail on Monday, Alli’s scoring stats have been compared to Chelsea’s all-time record scorer Frank Lampard:

(Dele Alli’s) record since 2015-16 is only bettered by Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

That is nothing short of exceptional. After three full seasons, Frank Lampard had 30 goals in all competitions for Chelsea. Alli is already miles ahead of one of the Premier League’s best ever midfielders.

Barcelona & Leo Messi

Will Spurs progress in the Champions League?

Tottenham need to match Inter Milan’s result to advance into the knockout stages of the competition.

Inter are at home to PSV, and most expect the Italians will win.

Accordingly, Spurs will need to beat Barcelona in the Camp Nou to progress.

Barcelona have already qualified for the next stage, so will the Catalans rest their stars including Leo Messi?

That issue was posed to Dele Alli, who has made the following statement:

(Leo Messi) is a player that everyone idolised because of what he’s achieved in his career.

For me he is the best player in the world, he is a fantastic player and he’s a joy to watch. I’m not really concerned about what they do with their players.

They’ve got a quality starting XI and people to come in, so whoever they put in there we know it’s going to be a difficult game.
