Juventus in potential trouble

Juventus are embroiled in another scandal, 15 years on from the last, with the potential for the same consequence.

As per, the Turin outfit had their headquarters raided by officials on Friday. Indeed, the report confirms that the club are “under investigation for false accounting”, involving transfer and agent fees between 2019 and 2021.

These include the deal that saw Miralem Pjanic and Arthur effectively swapped between Barcelona and Juventus, as well as the deal that saw Joao Cancelo join Manchester City and Danilo head the other way.

The club released a statement on the situation, saying:

“Juventus Football Club S.p.A. (“Juventus” or the “Company”) acknowledges that the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of Turin has started investigations against the Company and some of its current officers (Andrea Agnelli, Pavel Nedved and Stefano Cerrato) and former officers concerning item “Revenues from players’ registration rights,”

“The Company is cooperating with the investigators and with CONSOB and trusts that it will clarify any aspect of interest to it as it believes to have acted in compliance with the laws and regulations governing the preparation of financial reports, in accordance with accounting principles and in line with the international practice in the football industry and market conditions.”

It could make his way to England as well, with Gazetto Della Sport revealing:

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli, Vice-President Pavel Nedved and former sporting director Fabio Paratici, now at Tottenham Hotspur, are under investigation for false accounting and movement of €50m in the capital gains case.

As per the Daily Mail, Romero’s deal is “one of 42 transfers being scrutinised by police”, with the Argentine defender having only joined Tottenham in the summer, the same day that Juventus sold him to Atalanta.

Fabio Paratici, meanwhile, could be in more hot water than his signing, with investigations having been opened into him over his role in Juventus’ transfers during his time in Turin, where he spent 11 years.

Could the consequences of any investigation effect Spurs?
