Liverpool, Arsenal & the Ox
The Telegraph have an incredible transfer story on Wednesday, claiming that Liverpool are ready to pay enormous money to sign an Arsenal midfielder.
An no, we’re not talking about either Mesut Ozil or Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners star reportedly on Jurgen Klopp’s shopping list is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and the Reds are prepared to pay a large amount to land the England international.
As reported in the broadsheet:
Liverpool are refusing to be scared off by Arsenal’s £35million valuation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Jurgen Klopp steps up his pursuit of the unsettled England midfielder.
Were such an offer to be tabled, Arsenal would surely bite Liverpool’s hand off. The Ox is out of contract at the end of next season, and that offer would likely prove impossible to turn down.
But is he worth it?
The Telegraph fail to specify how Klopp would like to fit Oxlade-Chamberlain into his team.
Liverpool seem to have quite a lot of midfielders on their books, and it’s unclear which position the Ox would fill in the team considering Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson, Sadi oMane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino all seem to be starters if fit.
Fans have also been taken aback by the transfer story.
Tweets on the Ox moving to Liverpool are below.
£35m for Oxlade Chamberlain with a year left on his contract?! Has a decimal point gone missing? That's £12m more than Juve paid for Dybala.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a very good signing for Liverpool, but with one year left on his contract £35m is way too much.

It won't happen, I'm sure, but imagine selling Sturridge, the most talented English striker, for £20m & buying Oxlade-Chamberlain for £35m.

35m for Oxlade Chamberlain is about right in this days market. If Liverpool don't want him I'd happily have him at OT to fill in for injuries

Oxlade Chamberlain is a £12M-£15M player. Not a chance he's worth £35M! Only someone at the club is stupid enough to pay that. #LFC

I'm not scared off by Oxlade-Chamberlain's £35m valuation either, tbh. I'd already used up all my scare on the thought of £15m.

If splashing £35m on Oxlade Chamberlain is #LFC's idea of spending big this summer then bring the rope now.
