How Manchester United’s young players view Cristiano Ronaldo

How Manchester United’s young players view Cristiano Ronaldo

An insight into how Cristiano Ronaldo is viewed by the young crop of players at Manchester United has been provided this weekend.

Ronaldo would, of course, make his long-awaited return to Manchester this past summer.

Given the fact that he is one of the best players to ever grace a football pitch and is now 36 years of age, many likely would have assumed that part of CR7’s job when returning to Old Trafford would be to help pass on his knowledge to the latest up-and-coming talent at the club.

However, it appears as though Ronaldo and the young players at United, in fact, do not have that great a relationship.

As The Athletic report, several of the Red Devils’ starlets feel as though the Portuguese can be difficult to approach, with it suggested that Edinson Cavani, even in broken English, acts as a more unifying presence than his attacking partner:

Is Cristiano Ronaldo having a negative impact on Manchester United’s youngsters?

Amid such reports, could a case be made that Ronaldo’s presence is hampering United’s young stars?

It is reported that during his time at Juventus, regular observers felt that less experienced players shrank in Ronaldo’s presence.

And, at first glance, it is hard not to argue that Mason Greenwood, a key figure in Man United’s attack last term, has been overshadowed since Ronaldo’s arrival.

Elsewhere, though it may be attributed in some part to him adapting to a new league, Jadon Sancho continues to look half the player he was at Borussia Dortmund whilst donning the red of United.
