How Man United’s supporters reacted to Gerrard’s Old Trafford entrance, & how the Aston Villa boss responded

The home support in attendance at Manchester United’s meeting with Aston Villa this evening were not shy in making their feelings known, upon Steven Gerrard emerging from the tunnel to take his place on the touchline.

McTominay in target

The Red Devils are of course currently locked in action.

After slipping to a concerning defeat at the hands of Wolves in their prior outing a week ago today, Ralf Rangnick’s troops welcomed the aforementioned Aston Villa to Old Trafford, hopeful of a bounce-back result in an all-Premier League FA Cup 3rd-round clash.

And, as things stand in Manchester, this is precisely what United are headed towards.

And equally unimpressed was the ex-English international prior to kick-off.

This came as Gerrard’s emergence from the Old Trafford tunnel, owing to his Liverpool past, was met by an inevitable chorus of boos on the part of the home crowd inside the Theatre of Dreams.

The Claret and Blue boss, though, was in as defiant a mood as ever, turning back to face the Stretford End, with footage of the exchange showcased below:
