How Man United reacted to Jesse Lingard’s controversial video & Romelu Lukaku expected to play vs Leeds

Man United & Jesse Lingard’s controversial video

Earlier in the summer, Man United midfielder Jesse Lingard posted an eye-catching video on social media.

The video, posted on SnapChat, was shot while Lingard was vacationing in America.

Lingard was on holiday with his Man United team-mate Marcus Rashford.

Also on the trip was former Man United youth player Ro-Shaun Williams, who is now at Shrewsbury Town, and their friend Jamal Branker.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reaction

As confirmed in the Times on Wednesday, Jesse Lingard faced a backlash from Man United for that video:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has disciplined Jesse Lingard over a controversial social media video and warned his players that they must take responsibility for their actions.

It’s unclear what ‘disciplined’ exactly means.

Was Lingard fined? Did the club issue him with a warning?

Solskjaer briefly expanded on the subject in his presser before Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Leeds United, saying:

That has been dealt with internally.

I am old-school, old-fashioned, quite big on discipline and self-discipline.

I can’t spoon-feed these players, they have got to do it themselves.

Romelu Lukaku set to play vs Leeds

Will today be the last time that Romelu Lukaku plays in a Man United jersey?

Lukaku sat out Man United’s pre-season opener against Perth Glory. However, the Belgian is widely expected to feature against Leeds today.

Indeed, Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Lukaku will play against Leeds (see below), have reported on Wednesday that Man United are still waiting for Inter Milan to up their offer for the striker.
