How close is Harry Kane to joining Thierry Henry in the famed 20/20 club?
Harry Kane’s stunning exploits in front of goal have continued this afternoon, during Tottenham’s meeting with Newcastle United.
Spurs turn it around
Jose Mourinho’s men are currently locked in action at St. James’ Park.
The Lilywhites headed into proceedings absolutely desperate for all 3 points, aware that, despite their struggles to this point in the campaign, a victory would guide them clear of Chelsea into the Premier League’s top-4.
And, as things stand on Tyneside, this is precisely what Spurs are headed towards.
It was actually Newcastle who took a surprise lead in the clash just shy of the half-hour mark, when a defensive mixup eventually resulted in Joelinton slotting home from close range:
Joelinton capitalises on some sloppy Tottenham defending to register just his second goal of the season! ⚽

Spurs, though, took just minutes to hit back.
The identity of the goalscorer proved almost as inevitable as Newcastle surrendering their advantage, as Harry Kane took advantage of a sloppy piece of defending at the other end, to net the most straightforward goal he’ll likely manage all season.
Then, before the hosts even had time to regather themselves, Kane was at it again.
After being slipped in down the right by Tanguy Ndombele, the English international made no mistake with a fine drilled finish into the far corner of Martin Dubravka’s net:
Newcastle’s lead didn’t last long! 😳
Terrific turnaround from Tottenham, and Harry Kane is at the double! 🔥
Emphatic finish from Spurs’ main man…

Kane eyeing Henry
On the back of his latest brace, meanwhile, a host of statistics surrounding Kane’s frankly remarkable production to this point in the campaign have come to the fore online.
Spurs’ star man now sits top of not only the Premier League’s assist chart, but also the Golden Boot leaderboard.
In turn, discussions have begun to take place, surrounding the possibility of Kane going on to break a famed record in the English top-flight.
The record in question was notched during the 2002/03 campaign, when Arsenal icon Thierry Henry became the only player in Premier League history to rack up 20+ goals and 20+ assists over the course of a single league term (24G/20A).
Kane, with half an hour to play at St. James’ this afternoon, is now just one goal shy of hitting the 20-goal mark for the season. This comes with the prolific hitman having also bagged a hefty 13 assists to this point in 2020/21.

Tottenham’s talisman will therefore need to notch another goal and 7 assists over the club’s remaining 8 fixtures of the Premier League season to join Thierry Henry as just the 2nd player in the elusive 20/20 club.
