Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has opened up on how close he came to joining Paris Saint-Germain in January.
Despite several offers from PSG, the Toffees stood firm over their stance that the Senegalese midfielder was not for sale.
The 29-year-old handed in a transfer request but failed to force through a move to Paris.
Gueye: “I was a bit disappointed not to join PSG”
Everton are understood to have rejected an offer of £26M for Gueye on the final day of the winter window.
The player has admitted he was ready to make the switch and was confident the move would be completed.
However, Gueye remains an Everton player and he has spoken out over his disappointment for the situation.
Gueye told Canal Plus:
“Everyone knows it, I was a bit disappointed not to join PSG because it is a great club and all players dream of playing for this type of club.
“I was ready to go, but it didn’t happen, one moves on to other things and one tries to work for ones club and finish the season well.
“PSG is a great club, one that you do not refuse.
“It was not too difficult to move on because we are professional footballers and things like this, they happen often.
“It is not my style to go against my club, knowing everything that they have done for me and that they have always been proper with me.”
