Horrific injury news after Arsenal thrash Crystal Palace

Arsenal 4 – Crystal Palace 1

Make that two defeats in 13 games for Crystal Palace.

From an Eagles perspective, they’d have take those results and the club’s current 13th place Premier League after they lost their opening seven games without scoring a goal.

Yet Saturday’s defeat against Arsenal was rough in the first half. The Gunners scored four times before the half hour to kill the contest.

Nacho Monreal, Alex Iwobi and Laurent Koscielny had Arsene Wenger’s side 3-up after 13 minutes. Alexandre Lacazette added a fourth in the 22nd minute.

A goal from Luka Milivojevic saw Palace ‘win’ the second half with a clean sheet.

The Eagles came into the Arsenal game with a long list of first teamers out.

On Friday fresh fears about Ruben Loftus-Cheek were revealed.

Connor Wickham and Mamadou Sakho are still a few weeks away from returning.

Jason Puncheon, Scott Dann, and Jeffrey Schlupp are all long-term absentees.

While Palace can now add Yohan Cabaye to their long injury list after the Frenchman, who is out of contract at the end of the season, left the Emirates Stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot.

Cabaye went off on a stretcher with three minutes left in the game.

Will this be the last time Palace see Cabaye this season?

Nacho Monreal’s hamstring

Arsenal also suffered a scare in the Palace game when Nacho Monreal went off with a hamstring problem in the first half.

Monreal scored and bagged two assists before leaving the pitch in the 34th minute.

After the game Wenger allayed fears for Monreal’s long term health. The Arsenal boss confirmed the Spanish defender was subbed out the game for “precautionary” reasons.
