Troy Deeney fitness update before Leicester

Watford captain Troy Deeney came off the bench for the final 30 minutes of the friendly against Brentford.

Deeney returned to training several days after the rest of his Watford teammates, as the striker had reservations about going back to work during the global pandemic.

After the match, Watford coach Craig Shakespeare suggested that Deeney is on course to play against Leicester next weekend.

Watford host Leicester next Saturday in the Premier League. On Deeney, Shakespeare said:

He’ll be doing a full training session tomorrow, as will most of them, so we are building them up.

Watford will have three players missing for the Leicester game: Daryl Janmaat, Isaac Success and Gerard Deulofeu, who are all injured.

Brilliant skill from Brentford’s Said Benrahma

Brentford’s Algerian winger Said Benrahma had one standout moment in the Watford game.

Benrahma, who has been linked with a possible move to the Premier League this summer, skinned a couple of Watford opponents with a terrific spin near the left touchline.
