Northern Ireland make history
Northern Ireland today won their first ever game in a European Championship, beating Ukraine 2-0 thanks to goals from Gareth McAuley and Niall McGinn.
It was their first tournament win in 34 years, with every player putting in a magnificent performance following the drab opening game defeat to Poland.
The match was temporarily suspended during the second half due to huge hail stones raining down on the players – but it could not push the heroic Irishmen off their stride.
On ITV commentary duties, Ian Dowie completely lost his head celebrating the 96th minute McGinn goal and you can watch the video of it above.
