Harry Winks admits his situation at Tottenham is ‘difficult at the moment’

Tottenham flying high

Tottenham have enjoyed a superb start to the 2020/21 campaign.

Spurs of course added a number of players over the course of the delayed summer window, with the club’s squad, in turn, having improved a great deal.

As things stand, the Lilywhites sit 2nd in the Premier League table, having not lost since the opening weekend.

They are just a point adrift of table-topping Leicester, and boast the second-best attack in the English top-flight.

It is also worth noting that the majority of the north Londoners’ success has come without a fully fit Gareth Bale at their disposal.

Winks in difficult situation

One man who nevertheless isn’t overly happy at Tottenham right now, though, is Harry Winks.

The midfielder was a fairly regular contributor under Jose Mourinho at the beginning of the campaign.

However, Winks has since been afforded a total of just 17 minutes of action across the Lilywhites’ last five league outings. In fact, he missed out on a place in the club’s matchday squad altogether vs both West Brom and Burnley.

Now, with the European Championships just around the corner, Winks has spoken out regarding his need for more opportunities.

When asked if he needs to play more regularly for Tottenham to stay in the England picture, Winks explained:

“Definitely, my situation at Tottenham is difficult at the moment.

“It’s important that I keep fighting and working as hard as I can to stay in the squad and to stay in the team.

“Every time I get the opportunity for England I love it. It’s a great place to play football here, it’s free and the lads get on really well, it’s a great place to come to.

“I want to be a part of that in the Euros and I want to be in the starting XI in the Euros as well.

“But, yes, it’s important that back at Tottenham I get the opportunities there and I stay in the team there as well.”
