Harry Maguire latest as stopper left out of Man United squad to face PSG/Cavani & Greenwood also absent

Manchester United’s travelling squad to face Paris Saint-Germain flew out this evening, with a trio of high-profile players absent.

PSG stars miss out

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are set to get their Champions League campaign underway on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils face a trip to the Parc des Princes, to take on last season’s competition finalists PSG.

The French champions endured a difficult opening to the new campaign, though their form has picked up in a major way of late, with 5 straight wins across all competitions.

As such, PSG will no doubt head into proceedings in 24 hours time confident of securing a positive result.

They will have to do so, however, without the services of a host of key players. Speaking in his pre-match press conference this evening, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that all of Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, Thilo Kehrer, Mauro Icardi and long-term absentee Juan Bernat are set to miss out versus United.

Julian Draxler and Marquinhos, meanwhile, face late fitness tests.

Reds omitted

The Ligue 1 giants, however, are not the only ones set to be unable to call on a number of high-profile performers for the capital clash.

Man United boarded their flight out of Manchester this evening, with two core members of Solskjaer’s squad, along with another expected to make a significant impact over the months ahead, having been nowhere to be seen.

The trio in question, as confirmed by the Manchester Evening News, were Harry Maguire, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani.

English international Greenwood was also absent from the Red Devils’ squad which downed Newcastle over the weekend, with the attacker said to be struggling with an unspecified fitness problem.

Summer signing Cavani, meanwhile, is likely not yet up to speed, having only been integrated into first-team training at United on Sunday.

In the case of captain Maguire, an update was forthcoming online a short time ago.

The stopper is reported to have picked up a minor injury at St. James’ Park.

He has therefore been deemed not fit enough to face PSG, though hope remains that Maguire will recover in time to line out against Chelsea this weekend:
