Leicester City defender Harry Maguire is hoping to sign for Manchester United before the transfer window closes on Thursday evening.
The Englishman had an incredible World Cup with Gareth Southgate’s England as they made history by reaching the semi-finals.
While they were knocked out by Croatia, they left with their heads held high and Maguire left Russia as one of England’s best players.
That wasn’t the only time he was heavily praised for his performances, however.
The defender won Leicester’s player of the season award in the last campaign having joined from Hull City.
His performances at the World Cup only enhanced his reputation but that could end up being a bad thing for the Foxes.
Deadline day deal?
That is because Manchester United have been linked with a move for the player since he arrived back from Russia.
Now, they could be set to take their interest to a new level with Sky Sports revealing that the player is still hoping for a move before the deadline.
This could force Leicester’s hand and see them accept a bid but with it so close to the deadline, that could be unlikely.

Leicester manager Claude Puel has already played down a potential departure for Maguire.
“For me it’s good for Leicester to keep a valuable player, and it’s important to show good ambition for the next season,” Puel explained to Sky Sports News this week.
“I can understand some speculation about our player because he has good attributes, but I am happy to keep him and hopefully start a great season.”
