Watford have this evening confirmed that attacker Gerard Deulofeu suffered a ruptured ACL during the club’s meeting with Liverpool on Saturday.
Watford shock Reds
Nigel Pearson’s men welcomed Jurgen Klopp’s table-toppers to Vicarage Road two days ago, for a Premier League clash.
Liverpool were inevitably viewed as heavy favourites ahead of kick-off, with the European champion having dropped just 2 points all season before their meeting with the Hornets.
Watford, on the other hand, sat 2nd from bottom of the English top-flight, and on the back of a 6-match winless streak.
When all was said and done on Saturday evening, though, form went firmly out the window, as Watford shocked the masses with a comfortable win.
Following a goalless first-half, the hosts exploded into action after the interval, eventually finding the net 3 times courtesy of Ismaila Sarr (2) and Troy Deeney.

On a day that saw the Hornets climb out of the relegation zone, though, Nigel Pearson’s men were also dealt a blow.
During the first-half at Vicarage Road, Gerard Deulofeu went to ground in evident pain.
It immediately became clear that the Spaniard’s issue was a serious one, with Deulofeu having eventually been stretchered off whilst clutching his knee.
And, as outlined above, an update has this evening been forthcoming on his wellbeing.
In a major blow to both the survival hopes of Watford, and of course Deulofeu himself, it has been confirmed that the 25-year-old has suffered a ruptured ACL, along with a torn meniscus.
As such, Deulofeu is set for imminent surgery, ahead of a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
