Guillem Balague on Liverpool & Matthijs de Ligt
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has taken to YouTube on Monday to discuss the latest transfer news surrounding Ajax centre-half Matthijs de Ligt.
At 19, de Ligt is one of the most sought-after players in world football.
The teenager is already the captain of Ajax and a mainstay in the Dutch national team.
De Ligt is also a household name after Ajax reached the Champions League semi-finals this season.
Over the weekend, stories popped up suggesting that Liverpool could sign de Ligt in the off-season.

Those stories were anchored by quotes from Guillem Balague, who has discussed the defender’s future on the BBC and on his YouTube channel in recent days.
Balague previously stated that Liverpool have been in talks with de Ligt. However, the Spanish pundit is now keen to redress the analysis around the Ajax starlet.
What Guillem Balague said
In his latest YouTube update, Balague has claimed the following regarding Liverpool and de Ligt:
Liverpool showed interest (in de Ligt) about 18 months ago… but that has not continued.
(Liverpool) know what Ajax want – around 60-70 million euros – and they knew at the time what de Ligt wanted in wages.
Bottom line: Balague believes it’s highly unlikely that Liverpool sign de Ligt.
Latest on #DeLigt. Three clubs in the short list. Ajax will not auction him as they will be happy with €60-70, his future depends only on him. #FCB the club that pays the least but hope other things will convince him -style, Messi, de Jong. More:

Barcelona vs Juventus vs Bayern Munich
De Ligt is still expected to leave Ajax, however.
Balague has confirmed his understanding that three clubs are battling for his signature: Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
Barcelona are hoping to win the race by selling the defender the dream of playing with Leo Messi.
As for Juventus, they are hoping to edge out their rivals by offering de Ligt the most attractive pay-packet of all the suitors.
As for Bayern, the Bavarians appear to be third in the race right now.
