Guardiola defends Aguero over lineswoman incident vs Arsenal/Man City forward to face no action

Man City see off Arsenal

Manchester City welcomed Arsenal to the Etihad on Saturday evening, aiming to put an end to a short winless run of late.

The Citizens headed into yesterday’s clash having failed to secure victories in either of their last two league outings.

The first of those saw City handed a 5-2 drubbing by Leicester City, with Pep Guardiola’s men then held to a 1-1 draw with newly-promoted Leeds.

Against Arsenal, though, City managed to pick up a key three points.

Raheem Sterling fired the home side into the lead with 23 minutes on the clock, with the English international’s solitary goal having eventually proved the difference between the sides.

Aguero to face no action

City’s win, however, was far from the only noteworthy takeaway from the matchup.

Another major talking point surrounded an incident between Sergio Aguero and one of the officials at the Etihad.

After disagreeing with lineswoman Sian Massey-Ellis, Aguero placed his hand around the shoulder of the official, who was quick to shrug the striker off.

The incident, meanwhile, has since caused something of a stir online.

Pep Guardiola, though, is one individual to have spoken out in stern defence of Aguero.

Speaking post-match, the Man City boss labelled his side’s star hitman ‘the nicest person’ he has ever met:

“Come on guys. Sergio is the nicest person I ever met in my life. Look for problems in other situations, not in this one.”

It has since also been reported by the Guardian that Aguero will face no punishment for his actions:
