Why Deulofeu was subbed vs Brighton
Watford’s 2019/20 Premier League season didn’t get off to the start they were hoping for.
The Hornets hosted Brighton last weekend, and were hammered 3-0.
Gerard Deulofeu was one of Watford’s top forwards last season, but was rather quiet vs Brighton, before being subbed off at half-time.
Javi Gracia has since explained why the Spaniard was taken off just 45 minutes into the clash with the Seagulls:
“Gerard had a stomach problem the day before.
“He was at the hotel, he didn’t have dinner and he was in his room. At the end we decided he can play but we know he made en effort and it wasn’t possible to play all the game.” As quoted by Watford’s official website.
Watford teams news ahead of Everton
As well as speaking about Deulofeu, Gracia gave a team news update ahead of his side’s clash with Everton.
Watford are away to Everton this Saturday. The Toffees drew their opening game 0-0 at Crystal Palace.
According to Gracia, new signing Danny Welbeck trained with his squad all week, and could help Watford vs Everton:
“He [Welbeck] is training with us all this week, with the rest of the team.
“He is training well and I think he can help us in the next games because what I see is he’s ready.”
Gracia also spoke about another new signing, Ismaila Sarr:
“He (Sarr) needs time to be ready and after a time resting, he needs time to recover his best condition.
“I expect he will be ready as quick as possible. I am sure he is going to help us this season.
“He has a lot of skills, good qualities to help us. He is a very good offensive player: he has speed and an offensive mentality as a winger and as a striker. I’m sure we will be stronger offensively with him.” As quoted by Watford’s official website.
