Good news for Huddersfield: Newcastle’s bad injury update

Huddersfield v Newcastle

Can Premier League new boys Huddersfield make it two wins out of two?

Huddersfield began their top flight campaign in style last weekend as they crushed Crystal Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park.

This weekend the Terriers welcome Newcastle to the Kirklees Stadium.

Last season Newcastle won this fixture 3-1 in the Championship.

Fans of the Magpies will be hoping they can match that result this Sunday after the Toon were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham last weekend.

However Newcastle will be up against it following some rough injury updates on Tuesday.

Newcastle’s bad injury update

Rafa Benitez was forced into two early changes in the Tottenham game.

Defenders Florian Lejeune and Paul Dummett were both withdrawn in the first half against Spurs after they picked up injuries.

Unfortunately for Newcastle, neither player is due back this weekend. Newcastle have posted the following update on their website:

Newcastle United have confirmed that defenders Florian Lejeune and Paul Dummett will be out of action for a number of weeks.

Dummett limped off with a hamstring injury after just seven minutes, before Lejeune – making his Magpies debut – sustained ankle ligament damage during a tackle by Harry Kane.

Assessments by the club’s medical staff are continuing in order to establish the full extent of their injuries but both players are expected to be out for weeks, rather than months.

Benitez is likelly to turn to Jamal Lascelles and Chance Mbemba in the absence of Lejeune and Dummett.
