David De Gea

Good news for De Gea, bad news for Barcelona

Snubbed

Manchester United’s David De Gea has been given a huge boost this morning but it has come at the cost of Barcelona and Marc Ter Stegen.

That is because David De Gea has been included in the UEFA team of the year voting for the 2017 team of the year.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been huge for Manchester United over the past few years and some would certainly argue he deserves his place.

Though, Barcelona fans certainly think otherwise with their goalkeeper Marc Ter Stegen missing out on a spot.

The German goalkeeper has been incredible for some time with Barcelona and some certainly think he has been hard done by.

Judging by some of the comments on UEFA’s tweet, the majority simply feel that Ter Stegen has done better some of the other selections.

The other goalkeepers in the voting certainly come as no surprise.

Juventus’s Gianluigi Buffon made it to the final of the Champions League last year and with him set to retire, it isn’t a surprise.

Manuel Neuer remains at the top of the goalkeeping charts and remains a regular in the team of the year vote.

Keylor Navas won a Champions League with Real Madrid and has impressed after an initial poor start to his Madrid career.

Jan Oblak makes up the last spot and Marc Ter Stegen will certainly be thinking he could have been in there.

Barcelona fans react

Safe to say, the comment section of the post was certainly something to behold.

Barcelona fans dominated the replies and certainly felt hard done by for their goalkeeper.
