Walcott could be a casualty of Everton’s summer clearout
Everton winger Theo Walcott could be on the lookout for a new club this summer with reports he could be sold in the next transfer window.
Walcott decided to call time on his Arsenal career during last season with chances in the first team hard to come by.
Walcott joined Everton under Sam Allardyce with the club in need of proven goalscorers to save them from a relegation battle.
The Englishman initially impressed as he helped guide Everton up the table and away from any potential relegation battle.
Though, it’s been a different story since Marco Silva and Marcel Brands came in.
The Toffees are looking to reduce the age of their squad and Walcott, who turned 30 last month, doesn’t fit the bill anymore.
Southampton return for Walcott?
Now, his future is reportedly in doubt.
According to the Mirror, Walcott could be shipped out this summer.
With Walcott entering the twilight years of his career and on a wage supposedly ‘worth in excess of £100,000 a week’, it makes sense for Everton to move him on.
Though, it’s not all bad news for Theo Walcott.
That is because according to the same report, Southampton could move for him.
The Mirror claims: ‘Southampton retain an interest in re-signing academy product Walcott after trying to sign him when he left Arsenal but being outbid by Everton.’
Though, there is no mention of how much Walcott could cost.
Southampton could also struggle to meet his wage demands.
Should Southampton pull off a deal, it would be a pretty big coup for the St Mary’s side.
