Nemanja Matic is injured

Bad news for Manchester United.

Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic is injured.

Fears for Matic first surfaced on Saturday night when he failed to show up at the Lowry hotel with the rest of the United squad.

On Sunday, in the build up to the Liverpool game, Matic was again nowhere to be seen when the squad showed up at Old Trafford.

It’s since been confirmed that Matic is injured.

The injury happened in training on Saturday, which is why the press didn’t know about it until late in the day.

ESPN’s Rob Dawson has reported “fears after initial assessment he could be out for up to a month but will have more scans next week. Would be a big blow.”

Games Matic would miss for Man United

If Matic is indeed could until the end of March, he could miss four matches for United including this Liverpool game.

Those other matches are against Crystal Palace (a), Southampton (h) and Arsenal (a).

Matic would be unavailable for his national side during the international break.

Good for Arsenal

Could Matic’s injury be a boost for Arsenal?

The Gunners are in a battle with United and Chelsea to finish fourth in the Premier League.

Unai Emery will surely be grateful for any selection problems which may fall on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before their fixture.
