Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil’s latest comments suggest that he is set to stay in north London until at least 2021.
The German’s future has been uncertain over recent months but that appears to no longer be the case.
Despite his failure to secure a prominent role at the Emirates under Unai Emery, Ozil looks set to stay.
Ozil on leaving Arsenal: “I don’t think there’s a chance”
Ozil expects to remain with the Gunners for the remainder of his contract, which expires in 2021.
The midfielder has been in and out of Emery’s plans this season, throwing his future up in the air.
But he has admitted that he accepts the manager’s decisions and prepares himself for when he’s called upon.
“I don’t think there’s a chance of that, to be honest.
“If the coach speaks to me and tells me I won’t play in a game it’s something I need to accept and just get on with it.
“I’ve carried on working on making myself as fit and healthy as I could and it’s worked out for me.
“Now I’m playing, but of course, it’s the coach’s decision if I play or not.
“I’ve had some injuries and I’ve had to miss some games.
“I know the quality I have. I think everyone has their qualities and mine are at No10.
“If the coach wants me to do something and play somewhere else, you have to accept it.
“That’s something I’ve done and as a player, you just need to get on with what you’re told.”
Ozil will be hoping to secure a role in Arsenal’s side in the Europa League final at the end of the month.
