Gary Cahill’s Chelsea career is coming to an end
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is set to leave the club after six years at Stamford Bridge with a move to Fulham nearing closer to completion.
The Englishman’s deal expires at the end of the current season and will not be signing a new deal.
That means that any loan move this month would spell the end of his Chelsea career.
Speaking in September, Cahill explained he wasn’t too happy with the situation.
“Sometimes you have to make tough decisions to keep your career going forward,” he explained.
“As it is now, I’m not really enjoying things. Having been a big part of things for seven years and played a huge part, not just a squad player, I’m definitely finding it difficult this year to deal with that situation.”
Now, it looks as though he will be getting his move.
Fulham move nears completion, Arsenal fans rejoice
That is because it is being reported by the Evening Standard on Wednesday that Fulham are closing to in on a loan move for the player.
They claim that Claudio Ranieri wants to reinforce his defence ahead of a tough relegation battle and are hopeful of a deal for Cahill.
With his experience in the Premier League, he could be a great signing for the club as they look to survive.
Arsenal were also linked with a move for the player but in news that will delight fans, they will not be signing him.
Several fans were not too excited about the links but they are safe for now.
