Arsene Wenger celebrates v Manchester City

Good for Everton: Arsenal star can’t catch a break

Watford v Arsenal

It was a good weekend for Arsenal even before they kicked off against Watford.

While Tottenham and Man City both picked up wins on Saturday, others dropped points.

Man United drew 0-0 at Liverpool in the early kick off, while Chelsea slumped to a shock 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Arsenal fans were worried when the team sheet came out for the Watford game, and Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez were nowhere to be seen.

However, the Gunners settled before the break, as Per Mertesacker headed home a Granit Xhaka corner to put the visitors ahead.

Poor Danny Welbeck

Arsenal held their 1-0 lead to the hour mark, when disaster struck for the Gunners.

Once again, 2017-18 seems to be a stop / start season for Danny Welbeck.

Recently the former Man United striker showed his worth scoring a double against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

But Welbeck has been cursed by injuries throughout his time with Arsenal. As after the hour mark Welbeck needed to be subbed out of the Watford game with another injury.

Good for Everton

After Watford, Arsenal travel to Serbia on Thursday night to take on Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) in the Europa League.

Next weekend, the Gunners head to Goodison Park to face Everton.

Everton will obviously be boosted facing an Arsenal team without Welbeck to hand.

On the flipside, however, Ramsey and Sanchez should both be fit by then.

Arsenal fans have turned to social media to express their empathy and frustrations with Welbeck’s latest setback.
