Bayern 4 – Mainz 0
After four rounds of the news Bundesliga season, Bayern Munich are fourth.
Bayern recovered from a 2-0 defeat away at Hoffenheim in round three with a 4-0 home win over Mainz on Saturday.
Thomas Muller and Franck Ribery scored in the first half, while Robert Lewandowski stole the headlines with a second half brace.
Bad news for Bayern Munich & Manuel Neuer
But the week has started with terrible news from the Allianz Arena.
It’s being reported that Neuer, arguably Bayern’s best player, has broken his left foot.
Bild suggest that Neuer will need a fresh operation to deal with his setback.
While Bild fail to state exactly how long they predict Neuer will be on the sidelines, they tell their readers Neuer will be out for “several months”.
The paper add that Neuer had to stop today’s training session. He had a scan and it was revealed that has broken his left foot again.

Good for Celtic
While no-one is celebrating Neuer’s injury, Celtic will now face a ‘weaker’ Bayern side when they face them in the Champions League.
Celtic travel to Germany to take on Bayern on October 18, while the reverse fixture at Celtic Park is scheduled for October 31.
Sven Ulreich is expected to stand in as Neuer’s understudy until the German star returns.
Neuer will be back by the time the 2018 World Cup comes around in Russia, right?
