Gonzalo Higuain has admitted that Chelsea were looking to sign him but has also revealed why he decided to sign for AC Milan instead.
After it became apparent that the Argentine could leave Juventus, there were several clubs in the race to sign him.
Chelsea were one of them but so were Italian giants AC Milan who are looking to get back to the top of Serie A football.
That left Higuain with a choice to make and according to him, it wasn’t a very hard one to make.
That is because only one man at Chelsea actually wanted to sign him.

‘Here, everyone wanted me’
Following his move to AC Milan, he explained that while Sarri wanted to sign Higuain, he got the impression that only Sarri did.
‘In total sincerity, the esteem that I have for Sarri is great but the only person who wanted me at Chelsea was Sarri,’ he explained, as quoted by ESPN.
‘Here (AC Milan) everyone wanted me, that was my reason for joining.’
He went also went further into detail of why he chose Milan and it’s safe to say that it didn’t take much other than a few words from new sporting director Leonardo Araújo.
“I knew Leonardo before and certainly he had a big influence on me arriving,” Higuain continued.
“He convinced me with his words, his faith in me. It was one of the biggest motivating factors for me coming here, and he knows I am grateful to him for me coming here.”
