Dynamo Kiev & Everton
Chelsea have two huge matches to play before the international break.
Tonight it’s Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League, while on Saturday Everton host the Blues in the Premier League.
Will Chelsea play Champions League football next season?
Maurizio Sarri’s side are in a tough battle for a top four spot in the league. Man United, Arsenal and Tottenham are all currently above the Pensioners in the table.
However Chelsea could gain a golden ticket into the Champions League if they can win the Europa League.
Gonzalo Higuain & Eden Hazard out
So how will Chelsea line-up against Kiev?
The Times have released their predicted XI on Thursday.
Neither Gonzalo Higuain nor Eden Hazard were named in the Blues team.
On Higuain, reports circulated on social media this week that the Argentine missed training through illness.
As for Hazard, the Belgian could be rested against Dynamo.
Of course, Chelsea head to the Ukraine 3-up from the first leg.
Chelsea’s likely XI vs Dynamo Kiev
The Times also note that Chelsea may consider switching up their team tonight in an attempt to avoid injuries:
Chelsea are considering complaining to Uefa about the state of the pitch they are expected to play on this evening when they face Dynamo Kiev in the second leg of their Europa League tie.
Maurizio Sarri, the head coach, called the pitch at the Olympic Stadium “a disaster” and predicted that it would cause problems for both teams as it is icy in places, muddy and covered with divots.
With a fear of injuries, Chelsea may actually make wholesale changes to their XI.
The likes of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Willian could all get the night off.
