Giannelli Imbula & Stoke
When Giannelli Imbula first arrived in the Premier League the French midfielder made a big splash.
Back in February 2016, Giannelli Imbula become Stoke City’s record signing.
The Potters spent £18.2m on transfer deadline day to bring in midfielder Giannelli Imbula from FC Porto.
Imbula replaced Xherdan Shaqiri as the club’s most expensive acquisition.
After showing a few bright performances early on his Stoke career, it quickly become apparent that Imbula wasn’t going to be a lightening rod to shoot the Potters up the table.
On loan at Toulouse
Imbula has been sent out on loan to Ligue 1 side Toulouse this season.
A free agent in the summer, Imbula has played 18 matches for the French club this season.
It’s not all been smooth sailing, however. Earlier in the season Imbula was dropped after he reacted badly being subbed.
Toulouse 1 – Nantes 1
On Saturday in Ligue 1, Toulouse were held to a 1-1 home draw against Claudio Ranieri’s Nantes.
Stoke loanee Giannelli Imbula put Toulouse ahead at the half hour mark before Junior Sambia equalised.
Imbula’s goal was a stunner; he found the target with a long ranger ripper which must make Stoke fans wonder if Paul Lambert shouldn’t consider bringing him back to the Premier League strugglers.
