AC Milan goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, is widely tipped to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world despite only being 18 years old.
The Italian broke into the Milan first team in late 2015 and has established himself as a top goalkeeper.
What went wrong?
Donnarumma’s agent, Mino Raiola is one of the most famous men in football due to his incredible transfer dealings and phenomenal transfer fees for his clients.
Last summer, Donnarumma decided not to renew his AC Milan contract and seek a new challenge elsewhere.
This triggered angered AC Milan fans to throw fake money at the goalkeeper whilst he was playing for Italy at the under 21 European Championships.
After this whole issue, Donnarumma did in fact decide to renew his contract at the San Siro which would not only see him become the third highest earning goalkeeper in Europe, but would in fact bring his older brother, Antonio, to the club.
Now, six months after the first transfer debacle, the Milan fans are yet again, on Donnarumma’s back.
The Milan fans held up a banner during Wednesday’s match against Verona which read:
Psychological violence by giving you €6million-a-season & signing your parasite brother? It’s time to leave… our patience with you is over!
The banner left Donnarumma in tears and he was consoled by Leonardo Bonucci.
Now, Donnarumma has responded on Instagram.
The post, when translated, reads:
It was a bad evening and I did not expect it!
I never said in writing that I had suffered moral violence when I signed the contract.
Despite everything I look forward and head to the next game..forza milan!
It is unlikely that Donnarumma will leave the club in January transfer window but don’t rule out a summer move for the teenage sensation, especially with Mino Raiola as his agent.
